WHAT IS COACHING?

WHAT COACHING IS

Coaching is a partnership between coach and client in a thought-provoking and creative process that
inspires the client to meet agreed upon outcomes, and maximize his or her personal and professional
potential. As your coach, I will not tell you what to do. Instead, together we will identify your values,
strengths, talents, and skills; explore your options; identify stakeholders you may need to satisfy; identify
potential barriers to success; gain insight into patterns of behavior; and/or correct distortions of
perspective so that you can move forward with your self-defined goals and plans.

HOW COACHING CAN HELP YOU

There are many things that can keep you from reaching your true potential – a lack of clarity, the fear of
change, an unclear path, misdirection, a life-changing event, anxiety about a new position, or lack of self
awareness, to name a few. These issues typically lead to stress, frustration, and personal and career
stagnation.

Through coaching, you will discover different options and solutions that will help you achieve your
personal and business goals. You will identify and explore issues that may be holding you back, create a
vision for your future, and set realistic goals with clear action plans to achieve those goals.

WHAT COACHING IS NOT

Coaching is NOT:

 Consulting – identifying what needs to be done and doing it


 Managing – making sure people know what to do and are doing it
 Training – teaching people to do something they may not know how to do
 Mentoring – using expertise or experience to guide someone who does know have that
background
 Counseling/therapy – helping people deal with current psychological issues based on past
experiences.
