UNIVERSAL CREDIT?

WHAT IS IT?
Universal Credit is a type of
benefit to support you if
you’re working and on a low
income, OR if you’re not
currently working.

DOES IT REPLACE MY
BENEFITS?
Universal Credit replaces some of the
benefits and tax credits you
might be getting now, for example:

Housing Benefit.
Child Tax Credit.
Income Support.
Working Tax
Credit.
Income-based
Jobseeker’s Allowance.
Income-related
Employment and Support Allowance.

APPLY?

YOU MAY GET


UNIVERSAL
CREDIT IF:
you’re on a low income or NOT
at work
you’re 18 or over
you or your partner are under
State Pension age (read below)
you and your partner have
£16,000 or less in savings
between you both
you live in the UK

Universal Credit as a couple if one
of you is under State Pension
age and eligible for Universal

as a couple. You do not need
to be married.
