Network Description:

This layout illustrate a two-story building of a school, which is the Admin Building
were the operation of the school centralize. In this operation requires to have a high-
quality network, to connect and configure Internet access from all computers in the
network and the reliable network security to defend from external interruptions and to
install and configure the network services. Its purpose is to have an easy access
connection from all computers in the network, like file sharing and organize the printing
from all computers to a network printer. This is also a local area network, which usually
used Ethernet that can share and transmit data over the network in a high-speed. Ethernet
standard almost always involves connection through a switch, in this case the data reach
only to the receiver, which greatly increases the speed of work and network security.
Router provide a built-in security such as a firewall, which put up a barrier between the
trusted internal network and untrusted outside networks. For additional security installed
a third party antivirus and antimalware software. To set-up a high-quality network it will
be expensive, considering that is a star topology, which requires more cable length to be
used. Using a star topology network it will lessen the cost of maintenance in the future
because it was easy to manage. In consideration of environment, each room must be air-
conditioned or well-ventilated to prevent the over heat of a computer especially the server.

Network Specification:

 File Server – is the central device of the network. It serve as a storage of files and
shared that can access by other computers. Provides technologies that help you
manage storage, enable file replication, manage shared folders, ensure fast file
searching.
 Print Server – use to share printer to other computer in the network. It organize the
printing of files from all computers in the network to the network printer.
 Client Computer – this computer device use for the operation/workstation. It can also
access the other computers in the network by sending and receiving files from other
computer.
 Network Switch – it serve as the central device in star topology to connect each
nodes in the network. It can also send & receive information at the same time and
easy to identify the receiver.
 Router – can be a wired or wireless. It is a device of the networks that task to enable
and route data between two networks using the format of Internet protocol. Provides
filtering and network traffic control.
 Wireless Access Point – broadcasts radio signals containing packets of data to
computers within range. Enables computers and other devices to connect wirelessly
to a wired network.
 Internet Service Provider – is a company or organization that provides access to the
internet for their clients.
 Laptop – is a device that can be connected to wired or wireless network. It also use
to send and receive files from other devices through internet or AdHoc network.
 Mobile Device – it is a wireless device that connect through a router or WAP
wirelessly to access internet. It also use to send and receive files from other devices
through internet.
 Printer – is a computer peripheral device that produces a hard copy from data stored
in a computer connected to it.
 CAT5 Cable – one of the types of cables used to transmit the signals. It is unshielded
and is used in structured cabling for computer networks such as Ethernet.
 USB Cable – used to connect computer to other peripheral devices like printer,
keyboard, etc.
 Wireless Connection – it is an invisible connection of wireless devices to a wired
network.
