Teacher Preparation Program

May 2020

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is to verify the progress of Angelina Diaz in the Teacher Preparation Program at
Pepperdine University.

Ms. Diaz currently meets all academic requirements for the Preliminary Teaching Credential
granted by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). If she is able to pass the
edTPA by the end of the Summer term (July 29th, 2020), she will have also completed all
credentialing requirements, and Pepperdine University will be recommending her to the CCTC for
the SB 2042 Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential no later than August 7th, 2020.

The English Learners components are embedded into all coursework of Pepperdine’s Teacher
Preparation Program. When a candidate is recommended for an SB 2042 Single or Multiple
Subject Credential by Pepperdine University, the English Learners authorization is granted with the
credential. NCLB compliance is tied to the CSET and all state approved subject matter programs.
The CSET or Pepperdine’s state approved Subject Matter Program verifies a candidate’s subject
matter competence. Teachers must be "highly qualified" to teach core academic subjects in every
classroom. All graduates of the Teacher Preparation Program at Pepperdine University are NCLB
compliant due to them passing the CSET or Pepperdine’s state approved Subject Matter Program.
