Street art comes in different forms, most of them designed to shock and awe unsuspecting tourists.
Large cities worldwide are common hosts of this art form, providing a unique experience for visitors and
locals alike. One particular type of street art was the living statue, where a character adorned with
carefully crafted make-up and costume was seemingly frozen in time.

To be able to stand around for hours, immobile and expressionless similar to that of a typical statue,
took incredible control and endurance. The European street theater had a long standing tradition of this
well-known street art. One young street artist put his own spin on his own street performance,
transforming himself into a living monument while being accompanied with his special assistant.

Yorge Luis Ruiz moved to Fortaleza, Brazil to perfect his chosen street art. More than your usual living
statue, he added his own signature act that made his performance unique and remarkable. His routine
included a joint performance with his heart warming and adorable business partner, his dog Jaspe.

Jaspe took her role as Ruiz’s assistant very seriously. She knows well enough when it was time to bog
down and immediately freezes while sitting comfortably on Ruiz’s arm. Without prior training
whatsoever, Jaspe instinctively follows her owner’s signal the moment he kisses her neck.

Jaspe was the perfect match to Ruiz’s act. Her fur matches the color of Ruiz’s costume and makeup.
What was even more remarkable was how the pup had the natural talent to accompany Ruiz in his
performance, breaking out of character only when her owner does as well.

Their incredible performance was caught on video, which expectedly became viral with 2.84 million
views on Twitter. Their dedication to their art received well-deserved worldwide recognition, with the
couple garnering over 88,000 followers on Instagram. The sweet duo was delighted that their
performance art has touched the lives of people beyond the streets of Brazil.
