TEAM START UP CHECKLIST

Go to www.westlakesoccer.org and download team roster and schedule (sign in to recreation

registration page)
IMMEDIATELY contact roster via telephone call and email
Introduce yourself and provide your contact information
Provide practice time, day, location (specific location v just “rec center”)
Provide copy of the team schedule
Review uniform purchase procedure (same uniforms as past..families may use again if they already
own a complete set)
Confirm all player contact information for accuracy
Inform families of your preferred method of communication (email and/or telephone)
Provide info when/how practice or games are cancelled due to poor weather or field conditions
o WSA Hotline 216-556-4290 (also available via www.westlakesoccer.org web site)
o Suggest you contact each family in the event of cancellation
Suggest player come properly equipped to games and practice
o Ball (Size 3: Prek, K; Size 4: 1-6 grade; Size 5: 7th and older)
o Shin guards (mandatory!)
o Soccer spikes (inexpensive pair)
o Soccer socks covering shin guards
Prepare quick parent letter reviewing above, plus quick overview of your coaching philosophy
(playing time, development versus win, fun, positive, role of parents, simple development goals)
