College of San Mateo uses multiple measurements to determine English and math course placement. Complete this form
if you have any of the options below, including high school coursework, for placement in an English or math course.
All students are placed in English and math course through high school course information.
Submit your COMPLETED request with ALL REQUIRED INFORMATION in any of the following ways:

English and Math Course Placement-use any of the following ways for course placement in English and math

_____U.S. High school graduate - Attach high school transcript

*If unable to attach high school transcript, make an appointment to complete the Math/English Questionnaire in Assessment Services

_____U.S. College coursework completed in Math/English - Attach college transcript

_____AP English Language or AP English Literature - Attach AP Exam results with score of 3 or higher

_____AP Math CALC AB* or AP Math CALC BC* or AP Statistics - Attach AP results with a score of 3 or higher
*Although AP results allow eligibility to enroll, be advised that if your college major requires Math 251, 252, and 253,
your AP results may not meet major requirements. Meet with a counselor for course selection assistance.

_____American College Testing (ACT) English - Attach ACT results with a score of 22 or higher
_____American College Testing (ACT) Math - Attach ACT results with a score of 23 or higher

_____IB Language A1/English HL (International Baccalaureate Exam) - Attach IB Exam results with a score of 5 or higher
_____IB Math HL (International Baccalaureate Exam) - Attach IB Exam results with a score of 4 or higher

_____College Board SAT Reasoning Test - Attach SAT results with a score of 500 or higher on the Critical Reading section
_____College Board SAT Subject Test/Reasoning Test in Mathematics - Attach SAT results with a score of 550 or higher
