ASSIGNMENT (given technical parameters)

TASK 3 – Connection of Shaft and Hub with Feather Key

Design immovable connection of gear´s hub fastened on output shaft of gear box according to
the Task 01 with use of feather key (ČSN 02 2562) and including a standard axial fastening
by means of shaft nut KM and safety washer MB.

Individually:

Connection is loaded by torque Mk = MkIII [Nm] according to the Task 01.

Allowable stress at torsion of output shaft τD = 40 MPa.
Steel gear.
Smooth load.
Sides of keyways are not hardened.

Calculation of shaft diameter
Determination of dimensions of feather key cross section
Calculation of feather key length
Determination of dimensions and design of assembly unit
