ENGL 4021 M03 MINUTES
Meeting Date: February 18th, 2020

Call to Order:
A regular meeting of the Course ENGL 4021 M03 was held in room MTC3 of the Academic Building at
the University of Puerto Rico at Ponce on February 18th, 2020. The meeting convened at 9:06 a.m.,
Professor Le Compte presiding and Elannie Michelle Alicea García, secretary. All students attended
except: Eliot Rivera.

Approval of Minutes:
No prior minutes were approved since the secretaries were absent. Approval of prior minutes was
postponed.

Matters Discussed:
1. The professor finished the discussion of the documentary “The Future of Food.”

2. The students took a quiz of Chapter 1 “The Writing Process Achieving Speed and Quality”
from the Pocket Guide to Technical Communication.

3. The professor began the discussion of Chapter 1 with the following concepts:
a) Technical writing
b) Purpose statement
c) Reader matrix
d) Steps one to five of the Nine Steps to Better Writing

4. The professor assigned the reading of Chapter 2 “Structure Achieving Order and Design” from
the Pocket Guide to Technical Communication.

5. Professor Le Compte announced that the first test will be on February 25th, 2020. The test will
include both chapters and some exercises regarding the documentary “The Future of Food.”

Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 10:20 a.m.
