An Ode to The Sun

by Karyle Anne Tabian

Your rays are like pixie dust

While wind gives life to leaves
Sunbeam creates colors for sky
Casted diamonds in pebbles
Like sand and soil draws to smile

People forget that you are there

For sweat and tinge from heat hurt
They blame you, which is bad
For the needs you provide them
The warmth you offer
The prayers you've answered
All set aside in the room of neglect
They only see themselves
Only feel themselves then

Cumulonimbus tries to rescue

By releasing torrential rains
To all islands who were thirsty
To all the withered that thrived
Raindrops will descend
As soon as we pray for it

WE, applauded for sky

Hailed the clouds
Heat became chills
Everything was balanced

But are you still there?

I know you're hiding
I loved your all-out glamour
You bestowed me vision
For all things worth seeing
The light will come back
As soon as I pray for it, for you
To bring joy even just for some
Because many had abandoned
Your glory and power

Now an epidemic aroused

People start shutting windows
And houses were locked
Your rays are far from US
We forgot about warmth
And it's our fault

Survivors of disease longs for you

Hope resides in your beams
Mighty orange light strikes our eyes
And we felt that when we feel you
We are alive
That our lungs and heart work
Our minds wake up
And made US realize

Your rising and setting

Will always be new hope
For us.
