Cruelty Free Beauty with The Pip Box

I’ve recently made the decision to transition to cruelty free beauty products. I’m trying to be
more ethical, recycle more, support small independent businesses, and be a generally nicer
person. Well, I can try to be nicer but I have a tendency for sarcasm and dismissal … it’s
hard being nice!

I do have to say though, I’ve really been struggling with the cruelty free minefield of products.
So many brands are opaque in whether or not they test on animals and, having spent £50 at
Body Shop believing them to be cruelty free, I found out that they’re owned by Loreal who,
guess what, test on animals. Major fail!

Struggling to find ranges that I love and feel good about buying, I decided to tryThe Pip Box.
A monthly subscription box, The Pip Box sources from cruelty-free brands, many of whom
are relatively small and independent so it really ticks two boxes.

Not only that, they also donate 50p from every box sale to an animal friendly charity.

The box contains a mix of full size and travel size products and I was really impressed with
the selection. It introduced me to four new brands, two of which I will definitely be investing in
for future use.

These two products are definitely my favourite included in this months box. I’ve used the
Cream Cleanser several times this week and it’s left my skin feeling smooth, clean and fresh.
It comes with mini face cloth and is very easy to use.

The lip balm is silky on my lips and definitely leaves them feeling moisturised without leaving
that horrible greasy residue that many lip balms create.

I am prone to reacting badly to cleansers and creams but the Bee Good products haven’t
caused any adverse side affects but have left my skin positively glowing – my lips are
particularly succulent right now.

This is my least favourites of the products – it looks and smells amazing but I’m just not a
bath bomb girl. Also, my skin reacted to something in this.

Like I’ve already mentioned, I’m prone to allergies and this definitely aggravated them. My
legs were covered in a rash after just dipping into the bath so this is a definite no for me.

I know other people love these though so please don’t take my word for it!

This is a travel size moisturiser that really does offer a real luscious feel to it. It is heavily
scented with Primrose which, for someone that isn’t keen on heavy scents, can be a little off
putting. I love the feel of the moisturiser and how soft and plump my skin feels after, but if I
were to buy from Weleda (which I may well do) I would probably chose a none fragranced
alternative.

I received the 107 Emma shade of this nail varnish and absolutely loved it. With two coats
the Maggie Anne nail polish gave a thick, luxurious coverage with a great shine. The brand
suggests, with two coats and a top coat, the coverage lasts for 7 days and I can well believe
it. I’ve been wearing the nail varnish for 4 days and it is just starting to chip and peel at the
edges. This is very impressive given that I didn’t use a top coat AND I’ve been swimming 3
times this week … chlorine pools ruin my nails!

I will definitely be buying more nail varnishes from Maggie Anne.

The Pip Boxcosts from £13.50 depending on the subscription level you use and I highly
recommend if you’re looking for new, ethical products to try. It comes with discount codes for
all the products contained and, if you order using my code CSTEWART, you will receive a
bonus item in your first box!

Enjoy x

So nice to see a beauty post fully backing the use of cruelty free products makes a huge
difference ?

Ooo I’ve never seen Katie's YouTube page , that’s so cool! Going cruelty free is so hard, I
still make mistakes and I’ve been trying for years!

What a great idea. I have a friend this would make a wonderful present for. Thanks for the tip
honey! (And never stop being sarcastic – it’s practically my religion)
