Key Selection Method: Interview

We will be using interview as key selection method for HR interview. Here we are using internal
recruitment method because it is a top level position and Candidate should be preoccupied with cultural
value of organisation. If done effectively, the interview enables the employer to determine if an
applicant's skills, experience and personality meet the job's requirements. It also helps the employer
assess whether an applicant would likely fit in with the corporate culture.

Structured Question: What is that one thing you would change about the company today if you could?

As we are doing internal recruitment so we assume that the candidate has experience with the
organization and is aware of the problems of the organization if any. With this question we could know
the level of understanding of the candidates about the company. Also, we could access about how much
thought the candidates has put into our company. It also, shows where they want to take the company
as an executive.

Situational Question: Suppose if company is facing financial loss due to your investment decision to
invest in new manufacturing plant. What steps would you take to explain your decision and rephrase
the decision in a way that has a more positive tone for stakeholders?

This situation based question would access the ability and attitude of the candidates. The answer would
depict the ethical characteristics of the candidates like will the candidate hide the information from the
stakeholders to protect his/her position or would show the true picture good or bad. Also, the answer
would depict the convincing ability about how well they can handle the stakeholders and get them into
his/her confidence.

Similarly, the response of the candidates would show their attitude towards stressful situation, whether
they have positive attitude or negative attitude towards it. This also access the stress aptitude of the
candidates.
