Your task is to compose three detailed paragraphs that discuss the novel Of Mice and Men.

Your response is to be focused as an answer to the following question:

In your opinion, did George do the right thing when he killed

Lennie?

Please include the following in each paragraph:

 Paragraph 1: Answer the question posed in the box above, and briefly explain your answer. This
paragraph can be relatively short.
 Paragraph 2: Provide detailed support for the answer you gave in paragraph 1. Please refer to the
events of the novel, and provide quotes when appropriate. This should be a longer paragraph, with
many examples.
 Paragraph 3: Re-state your answer from paragraph 1 using different words. This is your conclusion.

 How skilfully has the writer managed diction and syntax choices?
 How varied and interesting are the sentence constructions?
 How appropriate are the writer’s style choices?

Matters of Correctness – 5 marks

 How correctly has the writer used the conventions of written English─in particular, grammar, usage, spelling,
and punctuation?
