TABLE OF CONTENTS
INTRODUCTION
This specification define the minimum requirements and give recommendations for field
survey, photogrammetry, and office work required to compile a topographic map of a parcel
of real property(s) for the project required “Water Disposal Unit Gialo 1 & 2” which will be
mounted in Libya. It will be applied with consideration of other specifications and documents
of the project.
All reports, mapping and drawing text, dimensions, and elevations shall be expressed in
English language and shall be in the imperial system.
DEFINITIONS
The following definitions will be used in this document without the need of any further
explanation:
Company/Owner: WAHA OIL COMPANY (WOC)
The shape, size and natural particularities of objects on the earth surface will be represented
through conventional signs, and relief through contour lines, with levels and conventional
signs.
Topographical works for surface engineering works will be done according to technical in
force norms and current national legislation.
The required topographic work to be fulfilled is:
• Topographical survey for both sites: Gialo 1 and Gialo 2 in the areas specified in the
Annex.
The mapped area shall include the entire area of the property identified in the contract
documents and a border area no less than 100 ft. wide outside of the boundary of the identified
property(s).
a. General
The topographic survey shall be carried out on the basis of a square grid allowing a plotting
with a distance of max. 165 ft. among the grid points surveyed, and by accurately plotted
contour lines and spot elevations, the map shall depict the true topographic character of the
area. Show contour lines at 1.5 ft. intervals or at 3 ft. intervals where the slope of the terrain
exceeds 4 percent. Show spot elevations at all high points and low points, and at points of
grade change between contours as necessary to accurately depict irregular terrain features.
Show invert elevations for all storm drains/culverts, open channel drainage channels and
sanitary sewer lines within the mapped area, if applicable.
ISO 9001-2008 Registered
b. Elevation Datum
SURVEYOR shall relate map elevations to the Site Plant datum.
a. Data Format
Electronic data shall be supplied by the SURVEYOR in a format compatible with the
CONTRACTOR’S in-house CAD graphics and Digital Terrain Modelling systems, in
accordance with the following requirements:
- All drawing information will be on individual layers;
- All common symbols should be created into cells and the cell library to be part of
the deliverables;
- The north arrow will be positioned in the top right hand corner of the plan aperture;
- Match lines will state the previous and subsequent drawing numbers (if any) as
appropriate;
- All reference files and all libraries etc. used in the production of the drawings will be
provided in electronic format compatible with the electronic files for the drawings.
b. An electronic design file shall be provided for each of the final topographic maps. The
graphics in this file shall be full size, 1:1. This composite file shall be supplied to the
CONTRACTOR and/or COMPANY along with the individual scaled map files.
All 3-D elements representing contours, break lines, fault lines and centerlines shall be at the
actual Z value.
2.2.3 Scale
Record scale-dependent data (such as text, cells, symbols) at a scale factor suitable for
display at the specified map scale.
Symbols and patterns incorporated into the map shall be appropriate cells available to the
SURVEYOR either of his own creation or as supplied by other software packages. All
symbols and patterns used shall be clearly identified as such in the map legend on each
drawing delivered.
