Preparation for Lay-up with Cetamine® Technology

Phase 2 – Preparation for lay-up keeping the system filled

• Additional dosage of Cetamine® necessary
• Target values: CFA ≥ 2 ppm
pH ≥ 10

• During preservation under filled conditions recirculation of system content is

recommended every 2 weeks (if possible)
• Preservation needs to be controlled regularly (every week at the beginning)
• Recommended parameters: CFA, pH, conductivity, chloride and sulphate, total iron, water
losses
• Specific values depend on water quality and system specific surface to water volume ratio
• Trends are more important than single absolute values; stable Fe concentration is an
indication for a good preservation

TGD11-19: Protective Cetamine® film
“Qualitatively, the presence of a film can be cannot always be
demonstrated by the lack of wettability of demonstrated during routine
the metal surface. This is the most common plant inspections
and easiest method to qualitatively detect
the FFA on a metal/oxide surface. However,
hydrophobicity sometimes cannot be Presence of a protective film
observed, e.g., in case of a rough surface assures system protection
with porous iron oxide deposits, even during shut-down periods
though FFA is present on the surface.
