All my life, I have used the same excuse of getting out of school, the sick card, and let

me tell
you those were the best days of the school year. I would watch movies, go on my phone, and
think about all my friends that were suffering at school that day. All of that changed this year, I
actually enjoyed going to school, I looked forward to seeing my friends almost every day and
loved my teachers and classes. Everything changed, however, when the Corona virus made its
way to my home state. Before anyone could wrap their minds around the pandemic, their lives
began to drastically change. All school dances were canceled, New York trips were canceled,
and the reality of not coming back to school until next year finally sank in. This has effected
many student’s lives including my own. Thanks to technology, students can still access their
education online and speak to their teachers to get ready for their exams or to further their
education, but it is not the same. Personally, during this time it’s hard to stay motivated and
actually complete schoolwork when at home because there are so many distractions. I’d agree
that school buildings are more efficient environments in which to learn. However, this pandemic
is helping students and the schools learn how to face emergencies and how to combat them for
the future. This trial will help pave the future for online learning in kindergarten through twelfth
grade schools and help prepare our future generations of students for when disaster strikes
again. Overall, this experience has been challenging but it’s cool to see how communities help
support our emergency learning plan through this stressful time.
