ABC Names — Pre-K

Objectives: To discover the beginning, middle, and end of the alphabet; to put names in ABC order.
Materials: Pre-K Wall Cards*

Beginning: The beginning letters of the alphabet have a green border.

Middle: The middle letters of the alphabet have a yellow border.

End: The end letters of the alphabet have a blue border.

*You can use any Wall Cards. These specific Wall Cards available at getsetforschool.com

Activity
1. Group Wall Cards in your classroom the way they are above to show the beginning, middle,
and end of the alphabet.

2. Have all the children stand up. Point to the first set of Wall Cards.
This is the beginning. Whose name starts with A... B... C... D... E... F... G... H...?
Children stand in front of letter when named. You are in the beginning of the alphabet.
Name children and have them sit down.

3. Point to the middle set of Wall Cards. This is the middle.


Whose name starts with I... J... K... L... M... N... O... P... Q...?
You are in the middle of the alphabet.
Name children and have them sit down.

4. Point to the last set of Wall Cards. This is the end.


Whose name starts with R... S... T... U... V... W... X... Y... Z...?
You are at the end of the alphabet.
Name children and have them sit down.

5. Once students are in alphabetical order, sing the Alphabet Song and have children raise their
hands when they hear the first letter of their names.
