Introduction to Lab-2
This lab introduces students to the method of connecting two similar devices using UTP cable.
This lab work includes the preparation of cross cable by connecting RJ45 connectors at both
ends.

Objectives of this Lab

At the end of this lab, students should be able to:

 Connect two computers through UTP cable and share resources

EXERCISE - 1
Objective
The objective of this exercise is to understand peer to peer connection.
Problem Statement
Connect two similar devices through cross cable using RJ45 connector

Procedure
 Cut a 5’ piece of unshielded twisted pair wire
 Take two RJ45 connectors
 Follow the 568A standard
 Use cable punching tool to connect the connectors to the wire
 Use cable testing tool to check the cable connectivity
 Plug the one end in one computer and the other to another computer
 Set up TCP/IP settings on both machines
 Share a file and grant permissions
 Access one computer from another
