Course description: This course is designed to be an introductory course in information
technology. The course focuses on key concepts for understanding modern computer
systems. The course includes broad coverage of technology concepts and trends underlying current
and future developments in information technology, and fundamental principles for the effective
use of computer-based information systems. There will be a special emphasis on networks and
distributed computing, including the World Wide Web. Other topics include: hardware and
operating systems, software development tools and processes, cloud computing concepts, security
and cryptography, enterprise applications, and electronic commerce.
Intended learning Outcomes and Competences
1- Understand the fundamentals of information technology.
2- Learn core concepts of computing and modern systems.
3- Understand modern software programs and packages.
4- Learn about upcoming IT technologies Concepts.

1.6 the binary system - some conversions.
1.7 Octal and hexadecimal conversions- simplified one, usage
1.8 Decimal point representation (fixed point and floating point)
