ALMINE, MARY D.

It is said that passion is a strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something or

about doing something. All of us has its own passion and we have our own enablers of passion.
Enablers of passion are things that keeps you motivated and driven on your passion. Since
passion is a strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something or about doing something.
As what Ralf Waldo Emerson stresses that passion rebuilds the world for the youth. It makes all
things alive and significant. These are my enablers of passion God, having hopes and goals for
my students and being with like-minded people.

My first enabler of passion is God. I believe that it is His will why I am in this kind of
profession. It has been 3 years that I am in this profession. There are times that I wanted to give
up because of pressure from work but every time I have that kind of mind-set God will send
someone to lift me up. I know that I am not alone in this journey. I always entrust everything to
God on whatever decision I made. He has been my constant guide and strength. I always start
my day asking His presence to be with me especially during class days knowing that I am facing
my students. God has been so good to me always and I can feel that He always finds ways
whenever I feel so down and empty. I am just so blessed that God never leave me. It is God who
always pushes me to move forward when nobody seems to understand me. I am just so grateful
for all the things that He has done for me. Through God, I always have hope and goals for my
students because He will be my guide and my strength.

The second enabler of passion is having hopes and goals for my students. A famous line
of William Arthur Ward states that the mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The
superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires. This line explains how a teacher
affects the lives of his students. In my almost 4 years of teaching experience I realized that
teaching is not just merely giving them the knowledge but rather affecting their whole being. I
always ended my class with a reminder that they will be successful someday. Every day I always
encouraged them to be positive despite the challenges they experience. I always hope for the
best for my students. It makes me happy every time they can grasp easily the lesson. As a
teacher the hopes and goals of my students keeps me driven to do my job passionately. It is my
happiness that in the near future my students achieved all their hopes and dreams.

The last enabler of passion is being with like- minded people. As a teacher you need not
only adjust to your students but also to your colleagues. Work becomes easy when you know
that the people that surround you have the same passion as with you. I feel motivated knowing
that my co-teachers have the same passion as me. It is indeed important that in a working
environment you share the same vision especially to your students.

Teaching is considered as the noblest profession. As far I can remember teaching was
my childhood dream but then it changed when I became a high school student. I promised to
myself that I will never be a teacher but look here I am loving this kind of profession. In my
almost 4 years of teaching experience one thing I am grateful is that I am able to inspire my
students to be good and to fulfill their dreams. I want my students to remember me as a mother.
Every time a student of mine ask for advice I feel like I am a mother to them. I treat them like a
child of mine. My relationship to them is not only a teacher-student but it is more like a mother-
child relationship. I want them to remember that I am someone whom they can lean on
whenever they feel so down. I also want them to remember me just like a sister to them.
Sometime we feel hesitant to share our problems to our mothers and we prefer to our sisters.
Being a sister is such a wonderful experience. Lastly, I want them to remember that whatever
happens I will always be a teacher to them. A teacher who understand when no one seems to
believe them, a teacher who never get tired of teaching them so that they will be successful
someday and a teacher who loves them dearly. This vision of “the future me” requires personal
actions or changes that I need to take in order to achieve this.

First, I need to plan. Planning is every essential in whatever endeavors you take. This
will serve as your guide in achieving your vision. This will be your blueprint in whatever
undertakings you will do. As a teacher it is important to plan on how you will become efficient
and effective to your students. Next, I need to focus. Honestly, this is one of my weaknesses I am
easily distracted. I wanted to change that kind of personality because that will hinder in
achieving my vision of “the future me”. Finally, I need to do what has to be done. Planning is
useless without action. It is said that actions speak louder than words.
