GROOMING AND DISINFECTION PROTOCOL, FOR THE

HOME "IN COVID-19 TIMES"

Styven Gonzalez Alfonso

UNIDOC
21-5-2020
This protocol, is a short method that serves as a guide for the management of cleaning and
disinfection of the home, contains some steps to handle a good household asepsis, was developed
during the pandemic covid 2020, is based on current standards, NTC, national and international. It
includes the standards stipulated by the WHO global health organization and adds some
considerations. This protocol should be seen as an aid and a proposal for the management of the
toilet in the home. It is designed so that people of any stratum can use it as a guide.

Introduction:

virus and bacterial management, health control, has been developed within the framework of
today's industry, and current legislation, but how can we implement a good environmental
management system, pest control, family home microorganism control? This protocol makes a
postulate that helps those who want to keep their home clean and tidy and need guidance.

Not all viruses and bacteria are bad, there are also good ones, in this protocol we will focus on
cleaning and disinfection, which will help reduce the evil micro organisms of the home.

Caution: if in the home there are babies or adults it is recommended to do the process of the
protocol when they are not, it is also suggested to do so with the windows of the home open so that
it is ventilated, many of the products mentioned in the protocol cannot be ingested and may present
irritation or a level of toxicity, this is why it is recommended to be used by responsible adults, it is
recommended to read the label of each product used.

During the pandemic season, household washing can be every day on average, every 3 days, or at
least once a week, it is recommended to do so as often as possible.

There are people who do the grooming of their house while listening to music, relax, do it efficiently,
there are other people who are distracted by music and commit accidents, it is recommended that
the person who makes the grooming of their home do it with all their concentration.

Clarification: in addition to the use of chlorine, you can use other cleaners, such as multipurpose, or
powder detergents, you can also make the use of citronella, waxes, acid "very carefully" and other
products that you deem necessary; for practical purposes we will focus on the use of chlorine or
also known as sodium hypochlorite and Creoline products easily accessible on the market.

Cleaning procedure:

1: Sweep floors, and wipe the walls.

2: Wash with chlorine and creoline solutions. (separate solutions can be used or a chlorine solution
combined with a creoline solution and floor cleaner can be combined.

3: Rinse with plenty of water.

Protocol:

1) Kitchen: for cleaning the kitchen, it is recommended to prepare a solution of chlorine, or

hypochlorite, commercial, at 1%-5% concentration; it must be taken into account that
commercial chlorine comes with a 15% concentration, so it must be diluted in water. The
solution can be prepared in a valde with water.

There is a product that helps to strengthen the cleaning, it is the creolin, this is of origin of
distillation of the wood, helpsdisinfection, you can also dilute this product in water, and rose
it on the washable surfaces; "washable surfaces are all those smooth surfaces that can be
wet and brushed"

Avoid product contact: creolin and chlorine with food, when you wash the lacene or food
shelves remove them before washing; wash, let dry, and after praying or letting the air pass,
you can put the food back in before it is removed.

For the washing of dishes: for the washing of common dishes, it is recommended to wash
them normally with soap and water, but additionally you can prepare a plate with water
and chlorine, to submerge the dishes and corridors, and make a disinfection more efficient;
the solution previously proposed should be between 1% and 5% chlorine, for this process is
not recommended the use of creolin, only use water and chlorine, you can take any plastic
plate, for example: if you have a plate of 10 liters of water, you fill it with water, remove
half a liter of water and add half a liter of chlorine so you will have a solution to 5% chlorine
in water.

Equation:

Ci*Vi=Cf*Vf

We have an initial concentration of chlorine of 15% (Ci), in 1 liter of chlorine and we want
to reach a final concentration of 5% How much water should we add to the chlorine we
have?

Substituting the values in the equation:

15%*1L=5%*Vf
dumping Vf

Vf-15%-1L/5%

3L Vf
So if we have achlorine itre, like the one we have commercially with concentration of 15%
and we want to take it to 5% to do the cleaning we must add 3 liters of water to get the
solution to 5%.

For practical purposes if you have 10 liters of water, add a small aisle, commercial chlorine
inkwell. And you'll have the necessary chlorine concentration.

The washing process is simple wash normally your dishes and hallways etc.. and you leave
them submerged in the chlorine solution for 1 minute, or in the way that suits you, mas
this will help disinfect the dishes.

The handling of the fridge becomes something necessary, it is recommended that all the
food that you store in the fridge, store them in resealable bags "zipo" which will prevent the
gases of food from mixing, and prevent it from rushing over other foods accelerating the
deterioration of them, then each food in separate and well organized sachets in the fridge,
whether meats, vegetables, fruits, etc... each in its corresponding bag.

The interior cleaning of the refrigerator, can be every 10 days, with hypochlorite solution of
1%-5%.

Avoid leaving the trash in the kitchen, if you can have an alternate room with the caneca
for garbage disposal, use the color code of your city, bags, blue, red, black, white, for better
waste management; in this way we also avoid the proliferation of bacteria and viruses.

2)

Living-dining room:

it is recommendedto keep in the dining room a jar with alcoholic gel, better known as
antibacterial gel, the dining room is advisable to wash it daily, pass a rag with water and
chlorine, carefully not to damage the woody surfaces.

It is recommended to follow a sweep, and mopping floors, and a weekly washing of walls,
with disinfectant, either 1%-5% chlorine solution or creoline solution.

It is recommended to use antibacterial air freshener that controls viruses.

It is recommended to use electric air purifiers in this space of the house, there are several
types of purifiers, commercially.

3)

Home Entrance:
It is recommended to use a foam moistened with water and chlorine solution at the
entrance of the house, where people who enter can clean the soles of their shoes.

It is recommended to leave a bottle with antibacterialgel at the entrance of yourhouse, so

that people who enter can be disinfected.

In some countries cleaning chambers have been developed for the entry of the home, if
within its capacity is to acquire one of these cameras, do so,there are cameras that spray a
special disinfectant, and there are uv light chambers, take into account the manufacturer's
recommendations.

4)

Bathrooms:

The bathrooms are usually one of the most shared spaces, it is the place of the house where
you have to make toilet and disinfection, as far as possible it must be washed daily, because
on the walls of the bathroom usually accumulates a zarro, which is a means of cultivation in
which a lot of bacteria accumulate, this happens because the bathroom is the mas wettest
area of the house, and in the splashes of water that are deposited in the slits and walls
accumulates bacteria and viruses; it is recommended to wash with chlorine solution
concentration of 1% to 5%, and use un soap to cleanfloors, in this space it is recommended
to use a 5% creoline solution that will help strengthen the cleaning. It is recommended to
use the bath utensils, brushes, brooms, mops, and use air freshener with antibacterial. It is
recommended to change toothbrushes 1 time a month, wash mats at least 1 time a week;
in this space you can also keep an antibacterialgel dispenser. For hand washing it is
recommended to use commercial hand soap, wash as doctors or people working in the food
industry do, abundant sink and abundant water and soap, wash as much as possible from
fingertips to elbows, this will help prevent the spread of viruses and bacteria such as Covid-
19.

5)

Bedrooms:

In alcoons can perform typical cleaning with floor cleaner, it is recommended to keep
antibacterialgeldispenser, here the washing can be supplemented with 1%-5% creoline
solution, followed with 1%-5% chlorine solution use abundant soap and water when
washing floors and walls, Washing frequently blankets and duvets, as there accumulate
mites, here you can also keep airfreshener with antibacterial,in this space you can use an
electric air cleaner as there are commercially (air purifier), you can pass a wet cloth with
chlorine solution on the smooth surfaces to clean them, this will help disinfection.

6)

External:
the exteriors, walls, floors can be washed with stronger detergents, mas if taking
precautions, detergent powder can be used and a higher concentration of chlorine, can be
used creolin, you can scrub floors and walls, it should be done at least 1 time a month, as
far as possible 1 time a week, remember that in times of pandemic it is right to be strict with
the cleaning of the home, because this depends on the protection of the family; remember
to washwindows, ceilings, bars, sheets, stairs, and everything that is possible in a thorough
way.

7)

Patios:

In patios as in outdoors, you can use a slightly higher concentration of creolin, 1%-7%,
remember to use floor cleaner, wash walls, windows, clean pet house, pet utensils, clean
ceilings and spaces with orcurls..

8)

Outdoor terraces:

Some households have on the terrace a drinking water storage tank, it is advisable to wash this tank
at least 1 time a year, as it can store viruses and bacteria, it recommends checking filters and
checking pipe, that there is no contamination, although it is unlikely that Covid-19 enters your house
by the roof, it is recommended to keep the ceilings in good condition , clean and disinfected, at least
1 time a year if they are shingle, or at least 1 time a month wash them with commercial soap and
water.

9)

Runners:

Runners are places where we travel the most, these we can clean them with abundant water and
soap, use chlorine solution from 1% to 5%, you can also use creoline insolution.

10)

Garage:

The garage can be a place considered a vector of virus entry into the home, because if it is given a
lot of use daily and the car comes into contact with the virus, can be transported inside the home,
for this reason it is recommended to be strict in the washing of the garage and the car, washing
tires, and interiors of the car, and the garage, you can use creoline or chlorine solution. Soon some
ultraviolet light lamps will arrive on the market that will be put in the garages to eliminate viruses.

Additional:
If household chores are tedious, don't hesitate to ask your family members for help, or hire a good
cleaning and disinfection service. Robots with artificial intelligence will soon arrive on the market to
assist in cleaning tasks.

It should be emphasized that, depending on the concentration of chlorine, this can be toxic to
lpeople, so it is recommended that the concentration of chlorine or creoline cannot exceed 7% when
used when cleaning, so it was explained explico how to change the concentration from 15% to 5%.

This protocol was developed with a moderately technical language, so that people who do not know
the very technical language can use it, it is developed for people who are engaged in other tasks but
who during environmental crises want to assume the grooming and disinfection of the home.

DISCLAIMER :this document is not medicaladvice, it is a guiding, informative protocol for people
who have no knowledge, and do not know how to cope with cleaning and disinfection of
households. If you think it's necessary, be amazed by professionals.
