Godly Wisdom
Proverbs 4:5-7 Says, Get wisdom, get
understanding: forget not; neither decline
from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not,
and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she
shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing;
therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting
get understanding.
Wisdom is the ability to use knowledge correctly.
There are two types of wisdom - man’s wisdom
and God’s wisdom. God regards mans wisdom as
foolishness 1 Corinthians 3:19 For the wisdom of
this world is foolishness with God... and says his
‘foolishness’ is wiser than men.
1 Corinthians 1:25 Because the foolishness of
God is wiser than men...
God describes his wisdom as ...pure, then
peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full
of mercy and good fruits, without partiality,
and without hypocrisy James 3:17. We need this
type of wisdom, not the world’s wisdom, and
God has made it available to us in Christ. But of
Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us
wisdom from God... 1 Corinthians 1:30 (NKJV).
It’s available to christians, but no-one or thing
outside of Christ has access to God’s wisdom.
A believer who operates in God’s wisdom is
infinately wiser than the devil!
We receive God’s wisdom when we accept Christ
Jesus. At that time we receive the mind of Christ
into our spirit – For who hath known the mind of

in our spirit, to be reproduced in our ‘physical’
mind where we can access it and use it.
God’s Word is Spirit and life (the words that
I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are
life John. 6:63. God’s Word has written in print,
what is written in our spirit in the mind of Christ.
As we study God’s Word and let it “...dwell in
[us] richly in all wisdom” Colossians 3:16 the
Holy Spirit directs and inspires our thinking
and understanding. Now we have received, not
the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is
of God; that we might know the things that are
freely given to us of God. 1 Corinthians 2:12.
The Holy Spirit brings God’s wisdom in Christ,
into our mind, from our spirit, and trains our
mind to let this wisdom prevail over our carnal
thinking. So when we are spiritually minded,
we can receive the wisdom of God and apply it
in every situation.
In this way, God’s wisdom is available to even
the most foolish of Christians! ... God hath chosen
the foolish things of the world to confound the
wise; 1 Corinthians 1:27. If we lack wisdom, (in
our physical minds), all we need do is ask God,
and if we ask in faith he will give it to us in
generous amounts. If any of you lack wisdom, let
him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally,
and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. ...
James 1:5-6.
