Exercise 1 Look at the photos and discuss the questions.
What is happening in each photo?
In the first, somebody are cooking.
In the second, there are some guys who have problems, maybe someone has an
accident
What injuries might happen in these situations?
In the kitchen there are a lot of possibilities for to have a injuries. Maybe cut, or
burn, or fall down. Or inhale some smells that can be irritating.
And if you are playing with a skateboard you can fall down and broke some parts
of your body.
Would you know what to do to help?
Yes, I know what to do in twice cases.

Exercise 2 Read the 'First Aid' leaflet and check the words in blue. Which
answers are right? There is more than one right answer.

FIRST AID
Do you know what to do if you have an accident?

1 You cut yourself quite badly with a kitchen knife. What should you do?
a Wash the cut.
b Stop the bleeding with a plaster or bandage.
c Go to hospital immediately.
d Go to hospital if it doesn't stop bleeding.

2 You burn yourself on a pan while you are cooking.


What should you do to the burn?
a Put a plaster on it.
b Put it under cold water for a few minutes.
c Put ice or cream on it.
d Put a loose bandage on it.

3You sprain your ankle while you are playing tennis. What should you do?
a Give it plenty of exercise.
b Put ice on it to stop the swelling.
c Put it up and rest it.
d Take painkillers if it hurts.

4 You fall off your skateboard and hit your head.


How do you know if you have concussion and need to go to hospital?
a You have a headache and feel dizzy.
b You feel sick.
c You can't remember what happened.
d You have any of these symptoms.
