THIS SUPPLEMENT
This booklet is a free supplement for Lords&Servants skirmish rules by Dadi&Piombo.
and it has been adapted to the second edition of the rules released in 2018.
Lords&Servants is a game system designed to recreate skirmish games with 28, 20 or
15mm miniatures. It covers the Medieval period and it shares the mechanics of our
popular system Smooth&Rifled.
In this supplement you will find all the information that you need to create your
games set in the 1066 Campaign, from simple clashes involving a few men per side to
bigger encounters with 60-80 miniatures per side, ideal for multiplayer games.
1066 also include special rules for Shieldwall.

BUILDING YOUR FORCE


Command Groups can be used only with the Large Format.

Figures with LV2 (eg a Man at Arms) or more can be paid for as their Unit and
attached to another Unit as a higher leader.
Milites and Huscarls count as Nobles.

No more than 50% of the Unit can be armed with a 2 handed weapon.
A 2 handed weapon cannot be used while mounted. With a 2 handed weapon you
cannot use the shield in melee.
Figures with LV=2 ore more pay and use Sword as Nobles.
Lance if used on foot becomes a Long Spear. You can always change the melee
weapon of a figure according to the miniature you use. Please refer to the point
system for adjustments.

Lists give minima and maxima for each Unit (eg 0-2) . This applies only to Large
Format. If you play with more than 1000 pts you can double the maxima.

Some troops can form Shieldwall. Check the rules at the end of this supplement.

THE SHIELDWALL

A Group of at least 4 figures belonging to the same Unit and with the
‘Shieldwall’ ability (see lists) can form Shieldwall with a Group Order. A
similar order is required to remove the Shieldwall. If the number of figures
in the shieldwall drops below four, the Shieldwall ceases to exist anyway.

If a figure is Shaken, it can still get the benefit of being part of the Shieldwall (if
in base contact with the Group forming the SW) but as the Shaken figure is no
longer part of a Group, that figure cannot move with the formation. Exhausted
figures cannot join the Shieldwall.

A Group with Shieldwall cannot take more than one movement phase per turn.
The advantages of Shieldwall are:
1) If shooting at a Shieldwall from the front, the shooting player treats the
target as if it were one more range band away that it actually is.
For example. To make a hit at a Group at Effectve Range you would normally
need to roll a 7. But if the group is in Shieldwall you treat them as if
they were at Long Range and must roll a 9.
2) In Melee, in the case of a Draw, the figures in Shieldwall formation don’t
move back. Instead their opponents move back of the double, unless both sides
are in Shieldwall.
Cost of Shieldwall is +2pts per figure (already calculated in the lists).
