FIRST CONDITIONAL

Please remember the rule:

The first conditional is used to talk about possible future events and their likely results. (Folosim
FIRST CONDITIONAL pentru a vorbi despre acțiuni viitoare posibile și despre urmările lor
probabile.).

e.g. If I fall, I will hurt myself.

If I eat that piece of cake, I won't eat the icecream.

Remember the football (soccer) field!

We use if + the verb in Present Simple in the first clause (=prima propozite) and will/won't+ the
base form of the verb in the second clause.
We use a comma (=virgulă) between the two clauses.

Here you have another example. Pay attention to the matching colours! (Fiți atenți la culori!)
If it rains, I will need an umbrella.

IF WILL/
+ WON'T
Present
Simple

After the break, the teams switch places, so the field looks like this:

WILL/ IF
WON'T +
Present Simple

I will need an umbrella, If it rains.

I won't see the movie, if you say that it is bad.

IF vs WHEN (DACĂ vs. CÂND)

When we say If I see Martin, I’ll give him your message. it means that it is possible that I will
meet Martin. ( Fraza Dacă o să îl văd pe Martin, o să îi transmit mesajul tău. presupune că e posibil
să îl văd pe Martin, dar nu e sigur. )
When we say When I see Martin, I’ll give him your message. it means that I know that I will meet
Martin. ( Fraza Când o să îl văd pe Martin, o să îi transmit mesajul tău. presupune că e sigur faptul
că o să îl văd pe Martin).
