What the United Nation has done so far with respect to COVID-19?

 The United Nations Foundation  and the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation have created the COVID-19
SOLIDARITY RESPONSE FUND.
It was laid from the first virtual press conference of the UN Secretary-General António Guterres last
March 19, 2020. Which he emphasis, “This is, above all, a human crisis that calls for solidarity”.

 What is COVID-19 SOLIDARITY RESPONSE FUND?

It will raise money from a wide range of donors to support the work of the World Health
Organization (WHO) and partners to help countries to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund,
the first-of-its-kind, enables private individuals, corporations, and institutions anywhere in the world
to come together to directly contribute to global response efforts.
Funds will go towards actions outlined in the COVID-19 Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan
to enables all countries particularly the most vulnerable and at risk, and with the weakest health
system to prepare for the respond to COVID-19 crisis, including the rapidly detecting cases, stopping
transmission of the virus, and caring for those affected.

 What is COVID-19 STRATEGIC PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE PLAN?

It outlines the public health measures that the International community stands ready to provide
support to all countries to prepare for the respond to COVID-19.

 Where will the funds go?

The WHO and its partners are seeking financing for the following needs:
a. protective equipment for frontline health workers;
b. equip diagnostic laboratories;
c. improve surveillance and data collection;
d. establish and maintain intensive care units;
e. strengthen supply chains;
f. accelerate research and development of vaccines and therapeutics; and
g. take other critical steps to scale up the public health response to the pandemic.
