On the model 130 test console, set all controls their initial control settings and turn console
main POWER to ON.
Insert PC130-21 in the PC1 connector.
Set PC1 fault switch $8 up and set the
‘AC SELECT switch in the test console
to Low AC (CT) to establish the circuit
as illustrated in figure 1
Set the PC1 power switch and the PC1
‘AC switch to ON. Measure the
voltages on the PC130-21 as indicated
in figure 1, using an AC voltmeter
Record the results in the space
provided in figure 7. Use test points
indicated for measurements.

Based on the results of the step 3, determine if T; thru Ts are STEP-UP or STEP-DOWN,
transformers. A transformer is a STEP-UP if Es > E» and STEP-DOWN if &s < Ep. Check the
appropriate column of each transformer listed in table 1,

10.
Transformers Ti thru Ts are secondary TAPPED transformers. Tapped transformers will have
voltage outputs similar to batteries connected series-additive. For example, T: secondary
voltage TP3 ~TP4 plus secondary voltage TP4-TPS should equal secondary voltage TP3- TPS,
just like E: +E = ET for series additive batteries
Measure the T; secondary tap voltages as required in table 2 and record the results in the
appropriate columns.
‘Add the measured value of step 4 and record the results in the COMPUTED TOTAL SECONDARY
VOLTAGE column of table 2.
Record the measured value of the total secondary voltage, TP3 ~ TPS, from figure 1 in the
MEASURE TOTAL SECONDARY VOLTAGE column of table 2 and compare the results.
Repeat steps 4 thru 6 for transformers Ts thru Ts and record the results in table 3, 4, and 5

Tapped secondary outputs of a single transformer are always additive. Secondary windings of
two or more transformers may be added in series additive or subtractive, just like batteries in
series.
Connect a jumper from TPS to TP1S as shown in figure 2A. Measure the voltage between TP3
=1P5, TP15 —TP17 and TP3~TP17 as required. Record the results on figure 2A.
Remove the jumper of step 9. Connect the jumper from TP5 to TP17.
Measure the voltage between TP3~TP5, TP15 ~TP17 and TP3 ~TP15 as indicated.
Record the result on figure 28.

14, Measure the voltage across TP10~TP12 and record the results in the Es VOLTS column of table
6. Measure the voltage across TP9- TPS and record the results in the Ep VOLTS column of table

15. Divide the Es voltage of step 14 by 3,3 kM to determine Is, Record the results in the MEASURED
Is column of table 6.
16. Connect an AC ammeter across PC1 connector pins $ and F. Place fault switch PC1 $8 to
CENTER. Record the measured current in the Ir measure column of table 6. Place fault switch
PCI S8 back UP.
17. Ifa transformer STEPS DOWN voltage, it will STEP UP current. This means secondary current
(current to the load) is greater than primary current (current supplied by the Generator). This
current ratio, Is + Ip, is equal to the voltage ratio Ep + Es. Based on this, Ip may be predicted
Using the following formula:
p= & xis
&
Compute the predicted value of Ip using the values of Es, E> and Is from table 6. Record the
results in the lp COMPUTED column of table 6.

The EP/ES and IS/IP value will not be exactly
the same due to the resistances of the
primary and secondary coils and small
transformer losses.

designated storage areas.
