1. Suggest an IS that would solve the problems faced by the company in the above case.

2. What is meant by supplier intimacy? Do you think customer intimacy might also be tied to supplier intimacy?

3. Which of the organizational components of IS deal with internal conflict? Suggest two policies that can be used
by managers to decrease conflict.

Answers:
1. The IS that would solve the problems faced by the company (delayed orders,
slow response times, shortage in supplies, etc) is the Supply chain management
(SCM)
The SCM is an information system that manage the relationship between the
company and the suppliers to lower the cost and reduce time consumption.

2. Supplier intimacy means that a business is closely engaged with its supplier.

Of course, supplier intimacy is tied to customer intimacy considering the end


products or services originate from the supplier and are finally destined to the
customer.
Moreover, both the customer and the supplier are indirectly tied through the
business itself.

3. Politics are the organizational component that usually deal with conflicts.
Managers can suggest many policies to decrease conflicts and resistance to
change.

One policy is to offer paid training sessions to their employees to qualify them
to deal with new information technology making them feel compensated.
Another policy is gradually implementing IT features that would replace
employees : this means the company at first could refrain from directly
implementing a fully featured IT in order to maintain employees sense of
security and purpose.
