Answers to some of the FAQs about the CSS Special Examination

1. FPSC and Establishment Division are in correspondence with each other over the
proposed summary for PM approval. The proposal has not yet been approved by the PM
or Federal Cabinet.
2. Number of seats for the CSS Special Exam will be adjusted after the announcement of
CSS CE-2019 result (Expected in 2nd week of June). Seats left over from CSS CE-2019
will not be carried forward to the next year and will be adjusted in CSS Special
Exam,2020
3. Vacancies of Non Joiners will not be included in the Special CSS CE, 2020 and will be
filled through the regular exam of CSS CE, 2021.
4. Two years age relaxation will be provided i.e. age limit would be 32 for the general
candidates and it would be 34 for Government Servants and candidates from
FATA/PATA, Baluchistan, AJK, GB and Schedules Castes.
5. Candidates will apply online only for the CSS Special Exam. Hard copies will only be
required from written qualified candidates after the announcement of the result of the
written exam.
6. CSS Special Exam may be advertised in the last week of June/1st week of July after the
announcement of final result of CSS CE, 2019 and its approval by the Prime
Minister/Federal Cabinet.
7. It is not clear yet when this exam will be conducted (depends on the COVID-19
situation).
8. Things are also not clear yet about the syllabus and whether this attempt will be counted
or not as rules formation for the CSS Special Exam are in progress and have not been
finalized yet. But chances are that it would not be counted as an attempt for those who are
appearing. Moreover, those who have exhausted their 3 attempts may also get an edge.
