Q1. (a) Determine the state diagram for the convolution encoder shown in
figure (1). Draw the Trellis diagram through the first set of steady state
transitions. On the second Trellis diagram, show the termination of the Trellis to
all-zero state.

(b) Obtain the codeword from the cyclic encoder for message signal 10011,
using the transform domain approach. The impulse response of the input top
adder output path is (1, 1, 1) and that the input bottom adder output path (1, 0,
1).

Q2. (a) Construct a convolution encoder with the following specification

1. Constraint length is 3.
2. Code rate is ½.
3. Generator sequences are (1, 1, 1) and (1, 0, 1).
4. The input sequence is 10011.
5. Draw the code tree, trellis and the state diagram.
(b) For systematic rate ½ convolution code n=2, k=1 and k=2, parity bit is
generated by the mod-2 addition of the SR output as P=XH i.e. g(1, 1) = (1, 1)

1. Draw the circuit for convolution encoder and decoder.
