Tell me about yourself

I am Kate Frances Camacho, 19 years old. Currently studying and taking the course Bachelor of
Science in Biology major in Medical Biology at De La Salle University-Dasmarinas. It will be
my first time applying to be an esl teacher, but as a student, I can apply some of my skills such as
by being an effective communicator both in writing and verbally. I can also cope very well and I
can adapt my style or teaching methods when needed in order to deliver consistent results.

Teaching Style
As an online teacher, I believe that a person should be able to think outside the box by making
creative technology-related ideas and try to do some experiment with the internet in order to try
new types of ideas and teaching strategies. I can provide interacting activities in order to create
different interactions with the student such as by creating slides or some games or some active
vocabulary words and different patterns using the technology

My approach is to develop my lessons by building them around educational standards, but I don't only
teach with the testing in mind. My lesson plans include more information than just what the students
need to know for the standardized test. Regular assessments let me gauge how well my students
understand the material, and I use my curriculum to make sure my students have acquired the skills that
they'll need for the test.”

Time you give to a student

I personally answer emails around the clock. But I should find the work spread out. Just as the
students must set aside time to do their course to fit their schedule, I too, must decide when will
my “teaching hours” are since I am a student too. I prefer working in the evening but in this
pandemic season, I could also work in the morning.

What do you know about our institution

Why do you like to be an ESL teacher
I like challenges and I have a great passion for learning and learners, and as a Medical student, I
think the best way to learn is by teaching. And I believe that teaching is a continual bilateral
process of learning and sharing. I am actually the type of person who is not satisfied until I have
shared all that I have gained to my students. In my opinion, ESL teaching is a very satisfying job.

Profit
The profit is in my learners.

Strengths
Personally, my greatest strength is my technology skills. And I think that would be my edge from
other teachers because at my age, I have always loved technology and I can use these skills to
create creative ideas to be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with the students
especially children. Aside from patience, is dedication. I believe that teachers who care the most
and get the most out of their students, help an underperforming student achieve their potential.

Weakness
My greatest weakness is that I sometimes focus too much on the details of a project and spend too much
time analyzing the finer points. I’ve been striving to improve in this area by checking in with myself at
regular intervals and giving myself a chance to re-focusing on the bigger picture. That way I can still
ensure quality without getting so caught up in the details that it affects my productivity.

What do you expect from ACADSOC

I have researched and read about the reviews about Acadsoc that actually convinced and
persuade me to apply because of the possiblity that you could earn more while you are at home
and there are a lot of benefits that u could get.

How does a teacher’s personality affect their success?

Teachers need to have flexibility, compassion, self-discipline, drive and patience to reach their
students. Teachers also need to consider state and local testing objectives when devising lesson
plans and making sure students understand the materials on which they'll be tested. Teachers
must be able to alter their styles so that every one of their students is able to learn effectively.

Get to know students to be helpful to them

How will u correct the grammar/ error of the students
Understand your student
. I need to know a student’s learning styles, passions, and challenges. Diversity is
present in nature. Students have different intellectual capacities and this influences the rate at
which one learns a new concept. Second, is to praise them and be genuine about it. We should
Never underestimate just how much of a difference the smallest bit of praise can make.
Third, give an understandable feedback. Explain mistakes in a simple and clear way,
which the students will be able to understand and relate to. In this way, They’ll progress
at a much faster rate. Because I believe that teaching is about the process and its not a
natural ability.

How do u evaluate students

I evaluate students with formal and informal methods, including quizzes and tests
it's a good general rule that accuracy activities come before fluency activities. And
when you think about it, this is common sense. You don't want to be
building fluency with incorrect forms

Parents
child's education depends on the support of his or her parents. I believe that engaging with
parents and making sure that they have an active role in their child's success is vital. I give
parents my contact information so they can get in touch and ask any questions they have
about how their child is performing, and I also provide updates about what my students
have learned and accomplished.”

I’m well aware of your new technology initiative.

How to motivate students online?

I can motivate students by forging relationships. Generally speaking, people don’t care what u
know until they know that u care. As an ESL teacher, supporting students is something that u
need to do before u can motivate them. Also by encouraging students, and making them feel
enthusiastic about learning, and also by providing timely and sensitive feedbacks.

If students are hard to teach.

Gamify your lessons. They’re highly effective ways to teach vocabulary and use grammatical
structures. U can modify games like scrabbles, charades, scattergories. There are plenty of ways
to change up traditional games to make them even more fun the students.

Be Empathetic
As a teacher, u should have the ability to understand a person’s feelings since u are going to
come across students who genuinely have a hard time learning English. Rather than getting
annoyed, u need to provide doses of encouragement every now and then to help the students
overcome their learning barriers.

Exercise your patience

Because it motivates struggling students to rise above their limitations when it comes to learning
new topics.

Willing to work under pressure.

Encourage them to Speakout.

Even if theyre not sure about their grammar. And encourage them and make them comfortable
that it is okay to commit mistakes. Since mistake is the best teacher. Because that you learn from
it and that mistake is going to teach you especially in the future.

making English practical because people don’t like doing things that are pointless.

How do you handle pressure?

I adapt to pressure by being optimistic even if the world seems to drag me down.

How to handle students who are Hyperactive

Hyperactive students are the most challenging. I actually experience encountering hyperactive
students while serving for the kids ministry in our church and it requires Patience and
compassion. I will be patient in letting the student lay for a while then slowly get the student to
the lesson proper by getting their interest then incorporate the lessons with their interests. For
example, they like to play game. Gamify your lessons. They’re highly effective ways to teach
vocabulary and use grammatical structures. U can modify games like scrabbles, charades,
scattergories. There are plenty of ways to change up traditional games to make them even more
fun the students. And kids love rewards. So I could probably provide a reward system.

Students who doesn’t know how to speak English at all

I will try my best to speak slowly and use a translator in case they really do not know how to
speak basic English and start with basics like alphabets in order to incorporate the English
language and start interacting with students. I could also use creative visual aids like pictures,
illustrations and body languages or hand gestures that will be helpful to interact with the
students.

How to handle a know it all

First. Assess the situation. find out how much they really know.
Then acknowledge them because they are either looking for acknowledgment, reassurance, or
both. So the you need to make them more comfortable by assuring them that they are intelligent
and that they do know things-even if they don't know everything they're talking about.
The last thing you want is to openly challenge them. But by appearing to be friendly to them.
Acknowledge their expertise. Invite them to show what they know. And then ask them a lot of
really tough questions, so that they can see what there is left for them to learn from you.
Once you've gotten them to show you their expertise, you need to get them to admit that there
is still something that they can learn from class.

Why should I hire you

I believe that I am the right choice to work as a teacher. That is because I possess all
the skills, as well as the passion that you require. That said, I am fully equipped to help
the students meet their academic goals. Also, I am highly attuned to students’ dynamic
needs. Owing to my teaching and mentoring passion, I am sure that I will be a great
contributor in many ways.
