Ex. 1 Translate:

Product tankers are small tankers that carry different sorts of oils. For safety reasons tankers must
be fitted with double bottoms. These spaces also provide storage for fuel, lubricating oil and water.
Tankers are divided into compartments by longitudinal and transverse bulkheads.

Cofferdams are empty spaces between the tanks and in the double bottom. They serve as
separations to prevent liquids from leaking from one tank into the other. Cofferdams often
serve as pump-rooms.

Pumps for loading and discharging the cargo may be installed in these compartments.
Tankers are often loaded and discharged in the offing by means of flexible pipes.

Petrolierele pentru produse sunt petroliere mici care transportă diferite

feluri de produse din țiței. Din motive de siguranță petrolierele trebuie să fie
dotate cu dublufund. Aceste spații prezinta de asemea și spațiu de depozitare
pentru combustibil, ulei lubrifiant și apă. Petrolierele sunt împărțite în
compartimente cu pereți despărțitori longitudinali și transversali.
Coferdamurile sunt spații goale între tancuri și dublufund. Ele sunt folosite
pentru separarea si preveni rea scurgeri lichidului dintr-un tanc în altul.
Coferdamurile servesc deseori ca și camera a pompelor. Pompele pentru
ambarcarea și debarcarea mărfii pot fi instalate în aceste compartimente.
Petrolierele sunt deseori încăcate și descărcate în larg cu ajutorul furtunelor
flexibile.

 The main characteristics is that it has a fixed schedule and it’s allowed to carry
more than 12 passengers.

Depending of the vessel type you can find crame, , elevators, pumping systems..
4. What are the advantages of containerization?
The main advantages of containerization are:Standard transport product that can
be handled anywhere in the world, lower transport costs due to the advantages of
standardization, the contents of the container are unknown to carriers since it can
only be opened at the origin (seller/shipper), at customs and at the destination
(buyer).
5. What types of ships have doors at the bow and/or stern?
