Water Level Indicator

The biggest problem as of day is water scarcity. As many of us know only 1% of the water
available in earth is fresh water.

With an ever increasing population and decreasing water table, conserving water has become
the need of the hour. Fresh water is wasted in many forms, including bathing under shower, having the
tap open while brushing and all. One consistent form of water wastage, in every house, is when the
overhead tank overflows.

It is said that this unused water if saved for 2 weeks, on an average, will provide for the water
needs for a house hold for one full day.

The solution to this problem is to have some kind of indication, before the water overflows.
Through this project, I propose a simple and easy to use system, which would activate an alarm when
water reaches a level that is little below the overflow level.

Below is the simple circuit that would cater to the need.

Water, being a good conductor of electricity, completes the circuit and there by triggers the buzzer to
sound. This could aid in switching off the pumping system, before water overflows.

This can also be used as rain detector. Rain detector can be used for number of purposes. For example,
it can be used by the farmers to know about the weather condition in their fields, and help them take
necessary action immediately.

A detailed working model is made and can be demonstrated to show the utility.
