❏ Read “​A Short, Sweet History of Chocolate​” article. Highlight any signal words that tell you the
author is using a sequence text structure. Highlight the main idea if you find it directly stated.
Then complete the Quiz and both Writing activities.

❏ Read the article "Mapping the West" As you read, highlight the main idea and any sequence
structure signal words that you see. Answer the comprehension questions.

❏ Choose two articles from the “Incredible Ways Animals Sense the World” set of articles to
read. As you read, highlight the main idea and any sequence structure signal words that you
see. Write a summary of the main idea and important key details in your Book of Knowledge.

Paragraph Practice
❏ Watch the video “Paragraphs (Part I)”

❏ Watch the video “Sequence Paragraph Assignment”

❏ Draft a paragraph that describes how to do something using sequence words. The paragraph
should be written with your best grammar and include at least 5 sentences. Email the
paragraph to Megan at mjones@waubonsee.edu

❏ If you didn’t do it last week, complete the initial diagnostic assessment

❏ Once you complete the assessment, you can work on the lessons that will be unlocked to help
you work on grammar you missed in the assessment

TABE Academy

❏ Once you have completed the introductory assessment in Language and Reading, the
program will identify your individualized Learning Plans. Work on lessons within those plans.
