6.24 Velocity of Sound Correction
“The Velocity of Sound (VOS) in the process quid may have an effect onthe accuracy of the indicated density. The
‘caibraton of the 7835/45/46/47 sensors has been optimised to a densty/VOS relationship as indicated in Figure 67.
Ifthe VOS of the process Mud deviates substantially from the rolaonship in Figure 6.7 it may be desirable to apply a
‘cortecton. This may be achieved by the simple intreduction of a calbation offset using the dala in Figure G7. Adjustrent
(of the value KO in the basic quation wll achiove this.
Alternatively the folowing equations may be used:
- saeoe (11)
Dyos = Dp 1 EOE)
Be 00"\ Ve “VE
Where: Dog = Velocity of sound and temperature corrected density (kin)
p= Temperature and pressure corrected density (kgm)
Ve =Calibration VOS (en's)
Vy =Liuid Vos (ris)
‘Ve may be obtained direct trom Figure 6.3 or may be calculated as folows:
Ve= 100+1.4850, for @ Dp of 300kg/mto 1100Kghm"
Ve= 2800-090, fora Dp of 1100kgin to 1600kgin*
Note:
‘The velocity of sound sensitivity of the 7845/47 Entrained Gas Liquid Density Meters is % hat of the 7835/45!46/47 series
meters. Considering the overal accuracy ofthe T8A5/47 E.G. unis, tis not Recessary/to cored fr the veloc ef sound
‘ect on these sensors.
