2. Your English class has done a project on transport. Your teacher has now asked
you to write an essay giving your opinions on the following statement.

There is no future for public transport because travelling by car is so much more
convenient.

Nowadays, having a car is not a privilege for few people. With the development of
cities and the need to be transported in less time, having a car is very useful.

In some countries, having a car is something normal, because the lifestyle has
created the necessity to have a conveyance to be transported to several places.
People can use the car when they need, for a short or long journey. In contrast, the
public transport is generally for people of low economic level, who travel in worst
conditions.

However, having a car is a constant expense, in fuel and maintenance. People

must earn enough money to maintain these expenses. Also, if only one person is
using the car, it causes an increase in the traffic, occupying bigger space by
person than in public transport.

In conclusion, having a car is a good way to be transported in the city, if it is well-

used when is necessary. But there is a wide variety of public transport which can
make easier travelling from one place to another.
