Electricity becomes most significant parameter of

human day to day life. Nowadays industries and most of

gadgets are running on it. “Due to heavy demand and
lack of electricity supply most of village communities
have to suffer without it.” We are familiar with this type
of scenario. As we know that the amount of non-
renewable sources are degrade quickly and remaining
are extinct. It is mandatory to use or switch our self to
renewable sources of energy. Wind is the abandon form
of energy and one of the source which can fulfill most
of the energy requirement of the world if its efficient
conversion to be done. The requirement of electricity
can be fulfilled by using vertical and horizontal axis
wind turbine. So here we are combining common
vertical axis wind turbines (VAWT) rotors(savonius
and darrieus) for optimal performance in low wind
speeds. The Savonius rotor is a self-started and
generates high torque, but relatively low in efficiency
rating .Where the Darrieus rotor is not a self-starting
rotor, but it has a higher efficiency than the Savonius
rotor . Here The Savonius rotor is used to start the
straight bladed Darrieus rotor. The combination of both
rotors increases the total power of the turbine in lower
wind speeds. This concept also helpful to overcome the
problem of land cost, land availability and high
equipment cost.
