ELS Language Centers operates on four-week sessions, There are thirteen sessions per year, and a student has the opportunity to advance levels each session. There are twelve levels from 101-112 at BLS. A student who passes level 112 is ready for the academic demands of an English-only university, Humberto proved himself to be a man of high moral character. He consistently demonstrated respect and diligence in both his studies and interactions with students and staff. Humberto was very responsible and personable in his peer relationships. Words such as curious, considerate, and goal-oriented are three key words that describe him. | observed steady growth in Humberto’s English abilities while he studied level 101 (low beginner) at our center. While Humberto did not pass his level, he still improved his English skills greatly. Humberto worked hard, had perfect attendance, completed all his assignments, sought extra help after school, and participated well in every class. Humberto’s assessments demonstrated that he needed more time in the low beginner 101 level at ELS Language Centers. All students learn language at a different rate, and it is not uncommon for a student to need to repeat a level before advancing to the next level. Each four-week session at ELS is very intensive, and sometimes students just need more time to master the material in the level. Since Humberto started with such a low level of English proficiency, he needed extra time to establish those building blocks of the language. While he tried very hard and was present in every class, his assessment scores were very low, and those indicated that he would need more time to master those basic components of the English language.
