REFLECTION
On the 3rd day of February 2020, me and my classmates were deployed by our OJT
Coordinator, Asst. Prof. Noraida P. Ramos at our Cooperating School; JLMNHS. We are
seven student teacher deployed at that school; two English major including me and three
Biological Science major. When we got dropped by our Professor in that school, I felt
nervous and tense because I have no idea to place where I going to work on. I met some
faculty staff there and they are all generous and kind to us. After the short orientation and
agreement, we depart our ways to meet and greet our Cooperating Teachers. When I met
my CT, at first, my feeling got much tense and nervous because I have no idea about her.
But then, when she talked to me my feeling lightens up and she seems approachable and
funny. My CT’s name is Mylene Sauna, Master Teacher of JLMNHS. The first thing that
I notice to her is funny and smart. I can say that I was lucky to have that kind of CT
because she is very accommodating and approachable.
When the first day of my OJT, my CT showed me how she taught the students,
how to initiate classroom interaction and many more transitions that teachers do. When
she finished her lesson, she told me that I going to start my job next day. I was surprised
because I’m not ready yet. Then, she introduced me to her students at the different
classroom. At the next day, I was really trembled and tensed because that is my first time
to face the real students, but before I walk inside the classroom, I took a deep breath and
fix myself. After an hour of teaching, I felt tired and stressed because that is my first
teaching experience. Every day, before I proceed to my class, I always showed my plan
to my CT to check by her if there is need to be edit or modify and every time in my class,
she always with me to observe and see my actions inside the classroom.
As the time goes by, my CT were no longer with me every time I going to class
because she wanted me to stand on my own and to be independent inside the class. But
then, she always asked my lesson plan and suggest some helpful tips to improve my
teaching. My schedule was very tight during that days and my handled sections is five.
Monday to Tuesday, my only class in three, but when in Wednesday to Friday, my class
were fully loaded. I was very tired those days because not only the tight schedule but also
it continuous work inside the campus. Even though it’s hard for me, I felt the
heartwarming greetings and support of my students which gives me comfort and ease that
took away stress and pressure.
