As an Instructional Mentor in Bellevue School District, I support professional growth of teachers in a

non-evaluative manner. It has been both my honor and privilege to work with Brandon Bordewyk at
Cherry Crest Elementary School during the 2019-2020 school year. During our time together,
Brandon has served as an Advanced Learning third grade teacher. Our work includes classroom
observations, debriefs, reviewing formal observations, planning, developing student growth goals,
and participating in professional development.

Throughout our time together I saw tremendous growth in skill of developing a positive classroom
culture. He had made the introduction to school warm and welcoming. Students feel supported in
their learning, yet Brandon has high expectations for participations and positive student to student
interactions. He continued this work in the transition to online learning.

During his time in Bellevue School District, Brandon has also participated in a number of
professional development opportunities including math practices that support differentiation for all
learners, restorative practice, and equity and inclusion. Brandon demonstrates his commitment to
students and the teaching profession both in and outside of the classroom.

I appreciated the opportunity to work with Brandon this year. He is an inspiration and will be a
