2. The goal of t h i s h i d e was t o provide c l e a r ?nri concise descriptions of
important and i n t e r e s t i n g l e t t e r s . Pages 1-9 describe L e t t e r s of
General I n t e r e s t : pages 10-12 describe l e t t e r s on t h e Congress of 1913;
pages 13-56, arranged a l p h a b e t i c a y by correspondent, describe l e t t e r s
of individuals, including Titchener I n t e r e s t i n g L e t t e r s , paces 40A9.
3. An effort, was made t o provide full cross references t o persons and
subjects meriting individual lists. Often, however. t h e correspondence
between Em and a c e r t a i n person was s o concerned with a suDject o r
other p r s o n t h a t no e f f o r t was made t o note every l e t t e r which discuased
t h e subject o r person. Instead, a general note was made: e.g., SXE
sANF(;KD COWPOM)mCE, r e f e r s t o t h e whole of t h e Em - Sanford
Correepondence a f t e r the date for which t h e , p n e r a l entry is made.
4. The Yerkes - EBl' microfilm has been inspected only p a r t i a l l y : t o
October 25. 1908; t h e descriptions s t o p there (see pages 57-58).
