LEARNING PLAN

GRADE : 8
UNIT TOPIC: LAWS OF MOTION

UNIT STANDARDS: (CS) Students demonstrate understanding of: Newton’s three laws of motion and uniform
motion.
(PS)Students shall be able to: Develop a written plan and implement “Newton’s Olympics.”

LEARNING COMPETENCIES: The students;

1. investigate the relationship between the amount of applied force to an object and its mass to the chan
the objects motion;
2. infer that when a body exerts a force on another, an equal amount of force is exerted back on it;
3. identify all the forces acting on an object;
4. demonstrate how a body responds to changes in motion;
5. relate the laws of motion to bodies in uniform circular motion;
6. infer that circular motion requires the application of constant force directed toward the center of the c
and
7. analyze and solve problems on linear and circular motion with or without friction.

LEARNING TARGETS

 I can investigate the relationship between the amount of applied force to an object and its mass to the
change in the objects motion.
 I can infer that when a body exerts a force on another, an equal amount of force is exerted back on it.
 I can identify all the forces acting on an object.
 I can demonstrate how a body responds to changes in motion.
 I can relate the laws of motion to bodies in uniform circular motion.
 I can infer that circular motion requires the application of constant force directed toward the center of
circle.
 I can analyze and solve problems on linear and circular motion with or without friction.
EXPLORE
Day 1
Show a picture of a carousel, Ferris wheel or car going around a rotunda. Via hands signal strategy, let the
students predict if the passengers are accelerating or not, assuming the speed is constant. Ask them to defe
their answers.

FIRM UP
Discussion: group the students into three and let them do an activity with string and a small metal nut.
Students will write their observation on a manila paper and present it afterwards.
Teacher will discuss the concept of uniform circular motion after all the presentation and try to correct
misconceptions during discussion.
Teacher will ask: As a youth, Will you be needing the concept of Circular motion in your life? Why or why no
DEEPEN
Day 2
Test for understanding: write your answer on every question :
Where can we apply the concept of uniform circular motion?
How can it be helpful for us?
Why are there rotundas and curves in our roads?
Transfer Goal
Students will be able to independently use their learning to plan and implement sports events that app
the different laws of motion to foster teamwork and sportsmanship.
