Even when I paraphrased the author’s words or ideas, I still gave the author credit for his intellectual property My parenthetical citations (in-text references to my Works Cited page) are formatted properly Every source I used is listed on the Works Cited page Citations. My paper mentions sources in the text that are not spelled out in the bibliography. My paper tends to rely rather heavily on one author, and/or one work. My paper also accepts this source uncritically. My citations list authors, but no year; or no page numbers. I have chosen a not very credible source against which I am forcefully arguing; this is known as a `straw man', and is not particularly convincing if we can see how foolish or extreme this position actually is. I tend to accept/portray as common knowledge things that are not necessarily so accepted FORMAT I used the correct MLA format for the title page I used the correct MLA format for the outline I used the correct MLA format for the paper MECHANICS: There are no spelling errors My punctuation is correct My paper uses the same verb tense throughout My paper flows well and reads smoothly OVERALL: My paper is easy to read and interesting My paper does not skip around - it is well-ordered and well- organized My paper stays focused and does not go off on unnecessary tangents that have nothing to do with my main topic Sources Are the sources used legitimate scholarly sources, such as peer- reviewed journals or books? Does the paper cite at least two scholarly sources (not Wikipedia or online pages but articles published in journals or books)? Do the sources contribute to the author’s argument, and does the author make it clear how they support it?
