• Vasculitis, thrombosis, ischemia, infarction

• ASF, CSF, Salmonella, Pasteurella, E coli,
Strep suis, Erysipelas, edema disease…

• Aka Pityriasis rosea, pseudo-ringworm
• Sporadic / young pigs / unknown cause (hereditary?)
• Aesthetic only (mild disease)
• Spontaneous resolution

• Overlying scale
• Histo: perivascular dermatitis, epidermal hyperplasia,
parakeratotic crusts
Dermatosis vegetans
• Young pigs / autosomal recessive in Landrace
• Vegetating skin lesions, hoof malformation, pneumonia
(giant cell)
• Skin can develop papilloma-like lesions

• Progressive and fatal disease

• Dermatophilus congolensis / gram+ filamentous
• “train track” (parallel rows)

• Hairs matted together (“paintbrush”)
• Crusts, scabs, wart-like lesions

• Histo:
• Crusts w/ stacks of keratosis and neutrophils
• Branching cocci in crusts
