This research entitled "DISCOURSE ANALYSIS OF HOAX NEWS IN
SOCIAL MEDIA: Study of Discourse Analysis of Mass Action Americans Demand Dissolution of FPI on Facebook". The purpose of this study is to determine the use of vocabulary and grammar, as well as the meaning of news hoax that is often disseminated to the audience through social media, especially Facebook. This research method is using qualitative research method with discourse analysis technique by Roger Fowler, et al., Which put forward two aspects. Namely vocabulary, used to describe events. And grammar or phrase, that is how an event is represented through a stiries by a words. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the goal of making a hoax news about American Mass Action Demanding FPI Dissolution through Facebook is to change the image of a group in the eyes of the public. Newsmakers deliberately construct the existing reality by making hoax news to influence the ideology and public perception of FPI mass organizations. Vocabulary and grammar used contain elements of propaganda and persuasive, which can affect the audience of readers in social media, especially Facebook. Sentences used tend to be active, allowing readers to understand the meaning to be conveyed through the hoax news. Suggestions that researchers can convey is that the public is expected to be more critical of the information that received, especially through on social media. Always re-checking through mainstream media such as television or newspapers that can be justified the truth.
