Short title and 1.-(1) This Act may be cited as the Election Expenses

General 26. Any person who commits an offence under this Act to
offences and
penalties
which no specific penalty is prescribed shall on conviction be
liable to-
(a) in the case of a political party, to a fme not
exceeding shillings three million;
in the case of a candidate, to a fme not exceeding
shillings one million;
in the case of an organization, corporation or
institution, to a fine not exceeding shillings five
million.

CONSEQUENTIAL AMENDMENTS
Construction 32. The provisions of this Part shall be read as one with
Cap. 258 the Political Parties Act.
(2) No information
relating to commission of an
offence under this Act shall be
admitted in evidence in any civil
or criminal proceedings and no
witness in any civil or criminal
proceedings shall be obliged to -
(a) disclose the name or
address of any
informer who has
given information to
the Registrar with
respect to an
offence under this
Act or the name or
address of any
person who has
assisted the
Prevention and
Conabating of
Corruption Bureau
in any way in
relation to such an
offence; or
(b) answer any question
if the answer to
such question would
lead, or would tend
to lead, to discovery
of the name or
address of such
informer or person.
