1.1 Presentation of the service

The hotel accommodation service is, along with transport, food and recreation, one of the
basic services requested by the tourist during his travel.
The main activities of the hotel service include:
• the accommodation itself and its complementary activities;
• food and manufacturing services related to its insurance;
• cultural-artistic and recreation activities;
• information and intermediation services;
• commercial activities;
• special activities
The quality of the hotel services represents the extent to which a set of characteristics
fulfills the defined requirements for these services. HOTELcert International is a certification
based on the quality of services in the hotel industry, being structured on the needs of
customers and covering areas such as: reception, information, customer stay in the hotel,
breakfast and optional services (conference rooms, bar, restaurant and recreation activities).
The HOTELcert International certification exists for the following categories:
- ECONOMIC: from 1 to 2 stars (European classification),
- COMFORT: 3 stars (European classification),
- PRESTIGE: 4-5 stars (European classification)

1.2 Presentation of the country

The Netherlands is a constitutional monarchy, a founding member of Benelux and the
European Union. This is a small country, but famous for its tulips, shoes, windmills and the
city of Amsterdam.
The population of the country is 17,000,075 people (in 2016 is estimate, 65th place in the
world).
With a territory comparable to that of the Republic of Moldova, the Netherlands is one of
the most densely populated countries in the world. It is the only country where the number of
bicycles exceeds the population of the country, but also the country with the highest number
of English speakers in countries where this is not the official language.
According to the analysis by The Economist, the happiness of the Dutch is due to the way
their work is structured, which is possible because, in general, for a comfortable life, a couple,
for example, does not need two salaries. The Netherlands is one of the European countries
where the world plays sports, which also matters, experts say, when it comes to the general
state of happiness. Statistics from the British Heart Foundation have shown that the majority
of the Dutch population makes moderate movements at least four times a week.
