    HOW CAN A
    READER
    LEVEL UP?
    Things inside the child and inside the book can
    CHANGE ITS LEVEL

    PRIOR KNOWLEDGE
    Has your child talked about the book a lot with other
    people, like friends, brothers, sisters?
    Has someone read the book to them already?
    Do they already know the characters and ideas from
    games, TV, or movies?
    Have they already read other books like this?

    INTEREST
    Does the child really like it?
    Did someone recommend it?
    Is it a favorite author or illustrator
    Did they already start the series?

    PICTURE SUPPORT 
    Enough to help with hard words
    Enough to follow the story
    Enough to see what characters are thinking
    and feeling

    WORDS
    Zero to five hard words on a page
    Just the right amount of words on
    each page
    Spaces between words and lines are
    easy to read
