Course Objectives:
The objective of this course is to acquire basic knowledge of financial theories and practices. This
course will cover different aspects of financial management. At the end of the course, students will
be able to evaluate situations related to investing decision, financing decision, and asset
management decisions of a firm. Also, the student will be able to apply some important tools of
finance.
Course Description:
The course deals with financial analysis, planning, time value of money, stock and bond valuation,
capital structure theories, capital budgeting and some other aspects of financial management to
prepare the graduates to understand and solve different financial decision making problems of
business organizations. The course pulls together the knowledge of economics and accounting and
their uses in financial decision making

Fundamentals of Financial Management; James C. Van Horne and John M. Wachow/cz, Jr., 13th
Edition.
Grading Policy:
‘The success of this course depends upon each student being fully prepared for each class session and
participating to the class discussion. The instructor will be an active member of the discussion group.
Independent thinking is encouraged and constructive disagreements are anticipated. The final course
grade will be based on:

Quiz/Assignment:
There will be a announced/unannounced quizzes during the entire semester. Alternatively, an
individual task will be assigned details of which will be announced later.
Class Participation:
Texpect active class participation from all students. You will be treated as an adult in this regard,
responsible for the outcomes of the choices you make. Absences will impact your class
participation grade; if you're not in class, you can't participate. I will set an objective criterion to
mark in this segment.Examinations:
There will be two term exams in the semester namely, midterm and final term. You can expect short
and/or broad questions including theories and quantitative problems in these exams. The detail will
be announced in due time. On any legitimate ground, makeup exam arrangement might be done in I
am duly informed. However, please note that I strongly discourage to sit for makeup exam.
Therefore, do not miss any of the exams unless severe unavoidable and legitimate cause(s).
