REFLECTION ABOUT MEDIEVAL: THE MAN IN THE IMAGE OF GOD

In this era talks about the perspective of Christianity and the philosophy brought by St. Thomas Aquinas,
who is known for his dedication in priesthood and for the teachings of God. The life of St. Thomas Aquinas
made me convinced that whatever circumstances may come just like how his family is against to his
decisions, you do what makes you happy. You do what makes you fulfilled. Sometimes I wonder how the
seminarians and soon to be priest thinks that being God’s servant is their calling. I think they experienced
something that really ‘touched’ their lives which makes them realize their journey to priesthood. At the end
of the day, they it is Him and His plan will always prevail.

The four ideas of St. Thomas Aquinas about the Image and Likeness of God about man strengthens that
there may be rational aspects in providing the existence of God, but it is still a matter of faith of a person.
Indeed, those who believe in Him doesn’t need explanation. Sometimes, when we think that we have
experienced the lowest point of ourselves, and we think that no one can ever help up but Him, everything
makes sense. He is light to our darkness; we are always reminded that God gave us these consequences
because He knows we could make it. He knows we can overcome it.

We are blessed enough that God made us a man, who has His image and likeness that makes us higher
than any other creature, He created us with the seal of goodness and rationality. In these times of crisis, we
have witnessed those who really has a pure heart of giving to others. Those who have compassion to those
who have less because they say that it is way of giving back to Him, giving back the blessings that they
have received. They feel like it is their way of duty of knowing love and serving God. I think that we all have
our own way of fulfilling our duties to God, for some it is charity, for some is teaching, and even the smallest
good deed that we could imagine is an example of fulfilling our duties to God.

After reading the references, it made me realize that our life is very precious to waste time. God given us
the chance to live, thus we should live it happily and make the most out of it. Earn memories rather than

material things, honor you parents, love yourself, and be a blessing to everyone as well. Everything that we
did and we’re going to do makes us responsible to our actions. As per my own experiences, I always seek
for His guidance every single day especially for the times I am uncertain because I always think that He will
bring me to where I will succeed. They say happiness is a choice so choose happiness, but we should be
reminded that we can live happily without doing harm to anyone.

Before I end this reflection essay, let me share with you my life verse, “For I know the plans I have for you,
declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
(Jeremiah 29:11) It always reminds me that whatever problem I may encounter; He has his purpose.
